Butch and Susan Huff and Gail Harlamoff decided to start Westside Farm and Feed when they saw the need for a unique livestock feed and supply business in the Northern part of Santa Cruz County.
Susan and Gail are fifth generation Santa Cruz County residents and Butch has lived in the county for over thirty years. Butch and Susan and Gail bring extensive knowledge in different areas of the business to the enterprise.
Susan McCrary Huff has over forty years working with her family business, Big Creek Lumber Company. In addition to her knowledge of lumber, Susan is a life-long horse owner
and has raised cattle, hogs, goats, and chickens throughout her life. She enjoys making homemade cheese, baking, canning & gardening.
Butch Huff is a licensed contractor with extensive experience in the area of sustainable living. Butch has created solar and hydro-power systems and many unique items for helping people to create their own backyard farms. Butch was a facilities manager for a local business for many years.
Gail Harlamoff raises dairy goats, pigs, and chickens on her backyard farm. She takes great joy in preserving food, making cheese, and growing her own fruits and vegetables. She raises and trains show dogs and has worked for many years in a pet and aquarium store. She has a great self-taught knowledge of dogs and dog nutrition. For the past seventeen years, Gail has been the Executive Director of Life Lab, a pioneering farm and garden based education non-profit organization.
